Ila Nan Clyde Cook and Alice Maude Osmond Cook-February birthdays

Image
Dave wrote a nice tribute about my mother in his letter last week.  Her birthday was two days ago--February 26.  I was thinking to copy Dave's tribute and put it in this letter, but decided I should write my own tribute.  He mentioned that my mother shouldn't be defined by her Alzheimers that she had for the last seven or so years of her life.  I agree.  She was (is) such a wonderful person and has been a great example to me throughout her life.   When my mother was only 22, her husband of only 6 months was killed in WWII.  Dave found this picture of my mom recently.  We think it was her high school portrait.                                    Gene Emmet Bird and the telegraph announcing his death. My mother as a young mother with Bruce, Glenn and David.  I don't know who the girls are.  Probably Dianne and Barbara Clyde.  This picture was taken in my Clyde grandparent's back yard.  My grandfather had dozens of rose bushes. My mom shared with me her struggle to get ove

Camden's baby blessing Feb. 21, 2021 (and Thomas' birthday)

This was a mostly uneventful week--for me anyway.  The 21st is Thomas' birthday--he would be 30.  Roy and I took a couple of balloons over to his grave.  Flowers don't seem like a great idea at this time of year--even artificial ones. You can see in the  above photo of Roy that he is only slightly better at selfies than grandpa Rasband :) In the afternoon we watched Camden's baby blessing via Zoom.  We were invited to attend personally, but with my cough and the colds some of Nick's family were experiencing, Roy and I decided to watch from home.  My immune system seems especially low since having COVID, and my cough gets ever more annoying--to me and everyone else, I'm sure.     Nick with Camden River Rasband He looks about twice his age in this picture.  He's only 3 months old. Nick and Sara's family of 4: Ori, Avie, Effie and Camden Unfortunately, the week wasn't quite as uneventful for Caitlyn.  She attempted skiing at Powder Mountain, in fresh powde

Finally--Family!

(Feb. 10) For the last several months Sunday has been way more relaxing than at any other time in my life.  We were attending meetings from home and, unfortunately, having family a lot less often.  I usually had plenty of time in my day to write my letter, read my scriptures, do Come Follow Me, and so on.  This past Sunday (Feb. 07), was so busy and nearly back to normal.  Therefore, I am late getting this written.   Roy, Gunnar and Hyeji won the Good Try Award for their fishing tournament.  I don't think I even mentioned that it was a contest.  Roy didn't do it for the competition, of course, but it was a fun surprise for Hyeji and Gunnar--they won $80 each.  Roy didn't take his share 😀.  He's a nice grandpa. Dave reminded me that it has been five years this month since the passing of my dad, and it is also my mother's birthday on the 26th.  I miss them.  I was born of goodly parents.   I celebrated my 61st birthday on the 2nd.  I can't believe how fast time h
