Funeral for a Cousin

Image
Activities of the Week I spent my week recovering from a cold that began while we were in Tucson.  By Wednesday I was enough better to tend Yuli and Dojin while Dan had surgery for his kidney stone.  I had the kids most of the day, but after Yuli's nap, Jennie came and stole her from me.  Dojin was bored so Roy took him with him on his errands, then I walked him up to join his sisters at the neighbors, just a short time before they were able to pick up all the kids.   Finn and Ila at Ila's soccer game on Saturday.  Roy was able to run over and watch them at a nearby elementary school.  He said that Ila was more interested in picking up sticks than chasing the ball.  She's not yet 4, so it's understandable Gunnar's team went on to district to take 2nd place in his Battle Books contest. Hyeji with her friend Addy.  This was at a YM/YW activity.  The youth had asked to use our kitchen.  The activity was for different groups to make part of dinner, then join together

Short trip to Tucson

This picture was from last week when Crista was down.  Uncle Nick should receive  Uncle of the year award for taking 6 little girls into the hot tub.  Later Camden got in, too! Ori and Hyeji went with us to "Cinderella" at the Centerpoint Legacy Theater.  It's the new "politically correct" version.  Roy and I  don't like it.  It takes away some of the magic of the original. We still had a great time with these two beautiful grandchildren. Thursday we went for a quick trip to Tucson. I've only been there once before when I helped Rosilene and Glenn when she was pregnant with (Emily?).  Of course, I don't remember anything about that trip except playing with Josh.  When we arrived in Tucson we went immediately to an airplane museum.  Roy loves  WWII aircraft.  The B-17 is his favorite.  The man he is talking to flew 26 missions in a B-17.  He was the tour guide for the day and was telling stories about his experiences.  He was funny and interesting.  A

Yuna's baptism

Image
Yuna turned eight in February but she had to wait until March for her baptism.  We had all of the family present for the event, except for the Jackson family, unfortunately.  We also celebrated Thomas' birthday because we were finally able to get everyone together.   Congratulations, Yuna.  We are so pleased that you have chosen to take this step.  Each week when you take the sacrament you can remember the covenants that you made this day.   I was honored that Yuna asked Crista and me to play the musical number.  We played, "My Heavenly Father Loves Me," which is Roy's favorite primary song. Enjoyable Events

Image
We had a couple of enjoyable events this past week.  Nick took me out to lunch for my birthday and we had a nice conversation.  It's a little unusual to spend time one on one with my adult children--at least the ones that have kids.  This is one of the joys of being a parent--your kids grow up and become your friends.  They are still our children--that never changes, but the relationship changes and becomes richer.   We also had the opportunity to watch Yuli for a couple of hours while Dan took Jieun to a doctor appointment for a procedure to help with her back pain.  It was nap time, so Roy took her downstairs to get her to sleep.  I got home a few minutes later and went down to try to take over.  Yuli would not settle down for me, so Roy took charge again and got her to sleep within a few minutes.  She slept the rest of the time.  When Dan came to pick her up, she was still asleep, so I told him to leave her.  Of course, she woke up within five minutes of his leaving.  I was hold
