Thinking of those who have gone before

Last week, after writing and publishing my letters, I read the letters from my siblings that they share with me each week.  Reading their letters reminded me of a couple of things that I should have thought about when writing: 1) Being the 24th of July weekend, my thoughts should have been on my ancestors and what I could share with my family (and there's a lot), and 2) My mom passed away on the 24th of July in 2004.  Dave shared a memory of my mom, which reminded me, but I felt that I should share a different memory since I didn't remember the same memory as he did. 😊 (Byt the way, Dave, Happy birthday on the 27th). I've probably shared this memory of my mother before.  It's funny, but she might not appreciate that this is the first memory that came to my mind.  When I was in my mid-teens my parents purchased a motor home for convenient travel.  It was a little out of character, in my opinion, but we were set for some fun times and some fun memories.  On one particula

Week of July 10-16 In my last blog entry, I mentioned Matt's presentation in San Antonio.  I didn't say much because I didn't know a lot, but Crista straightened up a few points for me: "Matt got his first paid speaking gig in San Antonio for a board of realtors.  He shared his knowledge on standing out in a 5-star world in the realtor industry.  He did a great job.  Shark Tank's Daymond John, was one of the other two speakers for the eventt and was paid $50,000.  Matt was able to give him his book and meet him briefly." I didn't realize Matt was paid when I was writing last week.  They asked Matt what his price was and he told them.  It wasn't $50,000.  Crista said that the Shark Tank guy started out by saying he was blessing everyone with his presence, then he kind of backpedaled and stammered that the audience was blessing him with their presence, too.  She said he was full of himself. We heard from Debra and Albert Bori this week.  They have been h

The 4th of July Week

On Monday we had one more day in Flaming Gorge to play on the water before heading home.  We could see that the weather was a little questionable, but we weren't ready to give it up.  We gave the girls and Matt a nice, easy tube ride, heading north to try and get to blue skies.  The problem was that there were several storm systems and it looked as if they were trying to converge, so, after eating some lunch, we headed back south to get closer to the ramp in case we needed to get off the lake in a hurry.  In the 2nd picture we were trying to cover up as the rain started coming down.  The towels in between Roy and me in the picture are the three little girls trying to protect themselves.  As we neared the ramp, the rain had mostly subsided, so we decided to try the beach and hope for the best.  We were there for about an hour and the kids had a ball.  At some point Crista pointed upward and suggested we get going, so we got everyone back in the boat and headed across the bay to the
