Back into normal life
Things in our household have finally settled down. We had a crowd, for Christmas, then Zack's surgery, then the funeral...Thankfully, Zack is recovering well. He finally slept through the night after eating some pureed foods (rather than just Ensure), with the okay from the doctor. This is especially great for Crista and Matt as they have been somewhat fatigued.
Today was a great day. We went to Sacrament Meeting and Sunday School in Manila, then came home and listened to talks by Ori and Nick, who were both speaking in their ward (it was recorded on Youtube). This was Ori's first ever talk in Sacrament meeting, since she is now 12. Ori spoke about her baptism, sharing some stories about listening to the Spirit. She also mentioned she was Nick and Sara's favorite child.
Nick shared how his testimony developed throughout his life. He said that he went back and read through his journals in preparation for his talk. I was amazed at everything he had recorded. His talk was a great reminder to record our spiritual experiences so that we don't forget them. It is easy to disregard our past if we haven't written down our feelings and made an effort to return to those experiences often. He said his journal mostly consisted of his spiritual experiences and occasional mentions of girls that he thought were cute. One thing that he shared was that when he was in High School, his group of friends had gotten together and decided to have a testimony meetings (they did this about three times). He said that he remembered feeling the Spirit, both while bearing his own testimony, and also hearing from his friends (he didn't mention that his group of friends mostly consisted of girls). He said they would also go down to the South Davis Care Center and sing for those who were unable to get out and do things for themselves. It is so important for youth to find a group of friends who help them to be strong in their faith and to be better versions of themselves. Nick said he had memories of having family home evening, and though he didn't remember specifics, he remembered that it was important to us and that it helped him build his faith. Saying that we were somewhat consistant was a complement, though probably not completely accurate.
We escaped to the cabin again this weekend. It was quite cold, especially because of the wind. Roy and Dana Dixon went fishing on Saturday morning anyway. I stayed in where it was warm and did a puzzle with Carrie Dixon. Roy took several pictures of his morning at the lake.

| We ate this momma fish (it was full of eggs when Roy cleaned it) with our dinner Saturday night. It was fresh and tasty, but I didn't enjoy having to remove the bones. |

| Roy and Dana fished near a herd of Bighorn sheep. They didn't seem fearful of Dana and Roy and grazed happily nearby. |
