Back to School: Complete

Good news this week! Grandchild # 26 is on the way.

Cait, Jennie, Crista, Adrienne, Roy, Catharine, Elise, Dan and Nick
An informal family picture day after Elijah’s baby blessing.  More pictures to come, I think.  Jennie's friend took the pictures and is supposed to get them to Jennie.

Camden is not quite old enough for Kindergarten yet.

Hyeji had to be to school too early to get in on the pictures.  This is her picture from her first day of school.  I believe that's her cheer uniform.

Ila and Finn: Elementary school

Ollie and Gunnar; Jr. High. (Gunnar is in ninth grade, which is technically high school and he is playing golf for the Woodscross highschool team.  He told me his favorite class is home release--where he practices golf--and then his golf class.  Sounds like there's a lot of schooling going on...)

This week was our annual trip to the Utah Shakespeare Festival.  Since we didn't think six plays were enough, we added the Gentri concert at the Hale Center Theater on Monday night.  It was very enjoyable.

In front of the set of Macbeth.  It's nostalgic for me to pick out the lines that my dad always quoted to me from the various Shakespeare plays.  He knew his Shakespeare.

In between plays we found time to get out and ride our bikes.  There are a lot of trails in the area and I loved riding where I felt a little safer (without traffic).  Because we took our bikes, we didn't have much time for the seminars, but it was a good choice; we had a lot of fun.
This year we saw: A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder (the cast executed the humor perfectly); Macbeth; As You Like It; Antony and Cleopatra; The Importance of Being Earnest; and Steel Magnolias.
My favorite was the first listed, then maybe Macbeth; Roy liked The Importance of Being Earnest (the cast was excellent, even though we're very familiar with the play).  Steel Magnolias was good, but I think we'd both agree it was the least favorite.  Another play was added after we'd planned our trip and we couldn't fit it into our schedule.  Of course, we heard it was the best play there.  We may try and take a quick trip down to see it before it ends on Oct. 4th.

We got home on Friday night late, so we were able to see some of the family on the weekend.  Saturday morning we watched Finn's football game.  He's the star quarterback and played that position the entire game.  They won handily.  Ollie's game was further away and Adrienne left a little early with Gunnar and Cub to go watch him.  AJ coaches Finn's team, so he was there to the end, then joined Adrienne a little late to watch Ollie.

Ollie with a friend (he's on the right). He's the quarterback of his team, too.  Adrienne said they played on turf and it was extremely hot.  She felt that Ollie was getting overheated and had AJ sneak her a gatorade over the fence (they're not allowed because they might cause damage to the turf).  Ollie's friend (not this one) got so dehydrated he passed out as he left the field at the end of the game.  I'm not sure how this will be fixed, but it seems very wrong to let 12 year-olds play without electrolytes on a hot day.  Apparently the turf gets very hot and exacerbates the heat.

Todd.  We didn't see Crista's family this week except on facetime.  Todd wanted grandpa to take a picture of his toothbrush and send it to his other grandma.  Don't ask me why...

Sunday evening we had some of the family over for dinner.  A lot of our kids had other obligations, but we had Adrienne's family, Jennie's family, Caitlyn and Dallin; and Dan's kids.  I only took one picture.  Yuna rolled around in the playground and had woodchips all through her hair but by the time I took the picture, she'd shaken most of it out.

Yuna

Jennie took this picture of Doyeon and Elijah.  My older grandkids love the babies in the family.  I heard Doyeon tell Gunnar that this little cousin probably wouldn't know his name.  There is 14.5 years between them, but I think they'll see each other enough for Elijah to remember him.

In Nan's letter she said she was using her time between blocks of institute classes to do genealogy.  I need to learn from my sister 😇.  I haven't learned how to do the research that she does.  Being secretary for the family organization is my contribution.  My next institute class will be Foundations of the Restoration A.  This time I will have a group from Central America.  My African class was a little difficult.  Some students had a hard time joining our gathering.  Some probably had good excuses.

I think we'll be getting a new bishop within the next month or so.  Change is always interesting.
