Welcome to our Family, Elijah Wolf Howell

The big news of this past week is the birth of Elijah Wolf Howell, to Jennie and Jordan.  He weighed 6 lbs. 5 oz. and was 20 inches long.  He had a little bit of a rough start and is still in the NICU.  His blood sugar was low, and then he's been a little inconsistant with his breathing.  He may come home tomorrow, but if so, he'll probably come home with an oxygen tank.  I picked photos without his hat to show off his hair.  (His name is pronounced with a soft "jah").

His sister Foster has been a trooper and has slept and played at both my house and Sara's.
Foster and Ori.  Sara took care of Foster most of the time.

The timing of the Howell move into larger quarters couldn't have been worse.  The baby was due on the 5th and Jennie was hoping to get moved on the first; before the baby was born.  Instead, the doctor wanted to induce labor on the 26th.  He was born right before midnight (11:53 PM) on Feb. 26, my mother's birthday!

Elijah wasn't the only new addition this week.  Dallin and Caitlyn have been waiting on a puppy.  They picked her up on the 28th in Mapleton.  Her name is Mika

I don't babysit often--usually.  This week I had Cub on Monday and Foster for part of Tuesday and Wednesday.  I was able to take Cub on a walk when the weather got up to 50 degrees or so.  He wanted me to stop often and make him snowballs to throw.  Sorry Adrienne, but he took a bite of every ball before throwing it.  Foster also enjoys playing with grandma, but it was probably more fun for her when she went to Sara and Nick's house because there she had cousins.

I could not get Cub to look at me.

Roy and I went to Finn's last basketball game of the season.  He played awesomely!  A couple of times he was showing off his cool tricks and lost the ball, but most of the time he was on task and either passed it for someone else to make the shot, or made the shot all by himself.  They won by quite a few points.

Here he faces off against the one girl on the opposite team, you can see he takes the game seriously

Catharine, Cub and Adrienne watching the game.  Cub was
super hungry, but not super patient.

I taught my lesson on section 18 of the D&C today.  Remember, the worth of a soul is great in the sight of God.  The Savior cares so much for each of us that he gave His life and suffered the pains of taking upon Himself all of our sins.
"Remember, the worth of souls is great in the sight of God; For, behold, the Lord your Redeemer suffered death in the flesh; wherefore he suffered the pain of all men, that all men might repent and come unto him."
President Thomas S. Monson said, "The worth of a soul is It's capacity to become like God."

One point that came up today was that our Savior would have suffered everything that he suffered, even if only one person was willing to accept His sacrifice.

I have a great love for each of you and this love helps me to understand, in a very small way, the love Heavenly Father has for us.
