Birthdays and other summer events

From last Sunday: Avie playing with her cousin, Zack.  Love the shoes!

We were so late taking Finn and Ila out for their birthday that we ended up getting ice cream with almost the whole Green family (minus Ollie and AJ),  Cub picked out a food mixer for his birthday.  He doesn't pay much attention to toys, so we hope he likes this one; it does move and has buttons, so maybe...We missed the cake and ice cream because we were at the theater.

After ice cream we went to Target for Ila to shop (Finn already had his present).  They all rode with grandpa in the Talon.  Don't worry, Cub went with me and Adrienne in his car seat.  Gunnar can drive the Talon, but not in the city.  He has to wait another year to get his driver's license.

We were also very late taking Hyeji for her date.  Yuli was lucky and got to come along.

Max celebrated his birthday on the 20th.  We called to talk to him but he was in the middle of his party.  He had two friends and they played video games--from 4:00pm until late into the evening.  He was in Heaven.  We'll take him out for his birthday when he comes in July.

Happy 2nd birthday to Cub.

We found ourselves with tickets to two plays on the same night.  CPT added 3 plays to their season that were optional.  We bought them but had no idea when they would be.  We gave our tickets to Cats to Sara and her girls.  They loved it.  Sara says it's a weird play, but the girls thought it was great.  Ori was excited because she's been taking some theater classes at CPT.  In her class she was able to get on stage, touch some props and meet the owner.  She also met one of the actresses from Cats and she thought that was fun.

After the play they met some more actresses and had their picture taken with them.

They saw Cats and we went to Twelve Angry Men at the Hale Center Theater.  Christine and Steve met us there.  Because I subbed an institute class at 5:00 pm, we couldn't meet for dinner.  Next time--it's a lot easier to visit at dinner than in the theater; but we had a great time with them anyway.

Early Friday morning, Sara, Effie, Roy and I drove up to Flaming Gorge.  Roy is in charge of the ride the 2nd week in July and he needed to map out the route.  The previous ride with Sara turned out to be a wash because they couldn't find the trails.  Roy thinks some of the trails on ONX Offroad (app) are not there because they aren't used enough to keep them clear.  They were on the app, but didn't seem to exist in true life.  They had a little bit of an adventurous ride this weekend when the roof of the Pioneer (that Sara was driving), decided to slide off.  Sara said a prayer that they could get it back on and her prayer was answered.  She and Roy were miraculously able to lift a 350 lb. roof and get it back on top.  They then used bungee cords to secure it as well as possible.  Needless to say we are bringing the Pioneer back to Centerville so that Roy can get it in shape for the ride in July.

Friday night Nick drove up with the rest of his kids so he could help out on Saturday.  Roy couldn't have mapped out these roads without Nick and Sara.  It's too dangerous to head off into the wilderness where you might not have a phone signal without a back-up vehicle.  We were very appreciative of their help.  Nick was here for only 16 hours or so.  They had to get back for a party with Sara's family.  Nick said it was worth it because it was worth it to dad!💕.

The Saturday ride was to Hole in the Rock (not the same one as the one in Lake Powell, obviously), in the Uintas.

The riders of the day saw lots of beaver dams, but no beavers.

Once again we enjoyed church at the Gorge.  You'd think people would know us because we're there so much, but I don't feel like anyone knows me.  Dad's a different story, of course, because everyone knows dad.😀. Our ward probably wonders if we're inactive.
