Family Fast

Thanks to everyone who joined our family fast this Sunday on behalf of Crista and Matt and their new little one.  Even newly baptized Ruby joined in the family fast, anxious to help her little brother.  I was proud of her because it's hard to fast when you're on vacation!  I have immense faith in the power of the fast and even more faith in the power of fasting with the family.  I know Crista and Matt will receive miracles, though I don't know what those miracles will be. Thanks also to those of you who have called her and served her in various ways.  I love that our family cares for each other.

One of the miracles Crista has already experienced is that of feeling the Savior's peace.

In my Come Follow Him studies this week, I came across a quote from Elder Holland.

"[Christ] told them [his apostles] Peace be unto you...The tragic irony is that peace is the commodity that is so difficult to find.  I think Christ's initial greeting when we see Him will be, "Peace be unto you."  Let us try to find it now.  We may not make much headway politically, but maybe in our chapels, our homes, and as individuals we can find peace."

Then Elder Holland said that the scriptures about the people of Enoch and the people in 4th Nephi give him hope for future peace.

"This can happen for us.  It will happen for us.  And if we can't find peace internationally right now, we will find it at home."

I can testify that this is true.  I have felt the peace of the Savior.  When my life was in upheaval and it was unrealistic to think that I could ever feel peace again, I felt the peace that the Savior gives.

Cub

Adrienne finally shared a few more pictures of Cub:

Bridget turns 4

Bridget turned four years-old on June 27.  The Vances celebrated her birthday at the pool.

The Harvest

I have officially begun to harvest our summer vegetables, though I have
been picking berries for a couple of weeks. I love this season!

Entrepreneurs

Nick and Sara's neighborhood held a kid's market where they had to manage their own
store and money on their own.  They made a whopping $4.00 after supporting all the other kids businesses as well.

Another weekend in Flaming Gorge

This time with Matt and Crista and family

We didn't catch crawdads, but or some reason this picture of Matt reminded me of when a crawdad caught Nick last year--right on the bum.

Greta loves the water, but her skinny little body just shivers from the cold.  It didn't stop her, though.

Matt and Roy

No rain was forecast, but Matt, Crista and Roy found that forecasts can be wrong.  They went on a short ride on the side by side and got blasted, but were rewarded with the above pictures.

Ruby and the perfect bite

No one goes to the Gorge without being given a project.  Especially the men.  Matt helped Roy dig a hole in the pole barn for plumbing for a future slop sink

                                                                           4th of July

We don't get to see the fireworks when we leave for the summer holidays, but Caitlyn and Dallin went and somehow met up with Jennie, Foster (and I'm guessing, Jordan, too).  We are grateful for our country.

Caitlyn and Foster;  Foster prepared for the loud fireworks

Some of the grandkids should have a contest.  Harvey is just the latest
with a mosquito bite on his eye.  At least he's happy!
