Family news

It's been a good week with many blessings.  Glenn had surgery on Monday for his detached retina and all went well.  The doctor said that everything went as well as it possibly could have.  We are very grateful that this turned out well for him.  Roy had his 2nd cataract surgery and has recovered well, also.

Christine and Steve came over for dinner Monday evening so that we could work on planning the Iceland trip.  I really enjoyed spending the time visiting with Christine.

Yuli isn't old enough to grab at his eye
patch, but she did like grandpa's shoulders.

The ban at grandpa's assisted living facility is finally lifted and he was able to visit with and hold Nick's children.

He adored Camden and was amazed at
how good he was.
Roy and I also visited him yesterday.  He is doing pretty well for a guy who's "older than dirt." He seems to be doing better than he's been in a while.  Last night he even let Nan take him to Tara's clogger's recital.  I don't think  he's been out at all for more than a year.

We recieved these pictures and a few more from Elise.  It was their spring break and they were able to go to the zoo.

I thought it looked like Elise.

I love this picture Elise sent.  She said that Harvey
woke up from his nap with this hair-do, and was
offended when she laughed at him.

Caitlyn had two skating tests this week--the first was a test that somehow we have no record of her every taking.  It was several test levels previous to the one she's on.  She was told to go ahead and take the test--for free--just to get all her "ducks in a row" in case she ever wants to coach or anything.  She passed this test with "distinction" which is the best you can get.  Unfortunately, she failed her Senior Moves test again and was really disappointed, but her performance had really improved.  She didn't fall at all, and her jumps were much cleaner.  The judges are super picky at this level.

We were able to spend a little time with the Dan Rasband family this week.  We watched the kiddos Thursday night while Dan and Jieun went to a viewing.  They also had us to dinner last night (Saturday), and fixed us delicious Sushi.  The children made their own.  Jieun just gave them seaweed, sushi rice, raw salmon and fish eggs and they had a ball putting it together.

Dojin loved the fish eggs.  He'd use spoonfuls of
it on top of whatever concoction he was making
at the moment.

Hyeji's sushi was made with a little more
care than Dojin's.

He caught me with my mouth full.

Yuli is super responsive for a 4 month old baby.

Todd is growing quickly.  At his two week check-up he was 8 lbs. 8 oz; 94th percentile for his height, 50th percentile for weight and 85th percent for head size.

  1. That pic with Bev is not with me. She didn’t want to ride an animal so she sat next to a stranger.
