Dan and Jieun left Monday to return to Centerville, but Roy and I decided to stay until Tuesday.  We have friends (from Bountiful) that now live full time in a cabin just up the hill from ours.  We joined them for games and dessert Monday night.

Our little Zack had a pre-surgery, surgery on Wednesday morning.  The temporary palate had to be unscrewed from the top of his mouth in order for his mouth to heal, in preparation for the palate surgery.  The hope is that the surgeon will be able to fix both the soft and hard palates at the same time.  The temporary plate had to be removed early for that to happen.  After the plate was removed, the surgeon said it looked like a good possibility that they can do the two surgeries in one go.

Zack has had 92 doctors appointments so far.  Matt is a numbers person and wants Crista to keep track.  We love him so much.  He's a little toe-head and has very blue eyes.  He's patient with all the poking and prodding and seems to have a good tolerance for pain.

Just as we were hearing the news from Zack's surgery, we found that Effie was being taken into the hospital because of a probable infection.  She had blood in her urine, was running a fever, and was throwing up.  She'd already been on an antibiotic for about 9 days because of a strep infection, so the doctor needed to find an alternative antibiotic that would work on her.  Because she was throwing up, they used an IV to administer the antibiotic.  She had to be on this for 24 hours, which meant an overnight stay (and all the next day).  Of course, all this happened just after Nick left for Boston on business.

As of leaving the hospital, Sara said they still weren't sure what the diagnosis was.

I was scheduled to babysit Cub for a day while Adrienne and AJ concluded a Lake Powell trip with their other children, so after being at Adrienne's house for a few hours, Sara's sister brought Camden to me when he finished his pre-school.  Cub and Camden played fairly well together in spite of the age difference.  Camden was patient with Cub, but wanted to find a spot to play with Cub's toys without being bothered.  Cub is a happy baby and gave me lots of hugs and kisses.  He's also very busy.  I like to tend at Adrienne's house in hope that his naps will be more efficacious.

At about 3:00 in the afternoon I took the two boys to pick up Avie and Ori from school and get them to art class, then turned around and took Cub back to his regular babysitter.  Roy picked the kids up from art and came home with four instead of two.  Yuna and Dojin wanted to come be with their cousins, which is always great.  They play so well together that it minimizes our babysitting duties.

This is what Avie made at art class.  It's a kiwi!  She shared it for show and tell and Sara received a lot of texts from parents asking where she takes art lessons (Brush and Palette art studio with Jieun).

There were a couple of opportunities over the weekend to see extended family.  My nephew, Josh Cook, had a daughter get married in the Bountiful Temple.  I was honored to be invited.  It was fun to catch up with the Glenn Cook family.

Rosilene and Ila

Josh's family.  The bride is Juliette Cook.  Josh has 7 children
When I took this photo I was hoping they'd have the grandparents in it, too.
I realize that I didn't get a picture of Glenn.  He looked great!

After the afternoon wedding, Roy and I attended the evening reception for James and Emma Christensen.  Here they are with Christine.  Steve was occupied greeting other guests.

Jieun won 4th place at the Utah State Fair for her elk.  Here she is with Hyeji and Doyeon.
Some of her art students also won awards

Crista and Matt had a good yield from their grape vines.  They gave dad the credit since he had pruned their vines in the spring.  He pruned our vines, too, but the birds ate every single grape.  He was planning on putting up netting when we got home from one of our weekend trips, but we were too late.

Roy was able to participate in his hobby on Saturday.  He took Caitlyn and Dallin along.  The three of them are at the far right in this picture of those from the club that went on the ride.

Sunday evening, Adrienne and AJ had us to dinner.  We enjoyed visiting with all of their family.
Terrible picture of me, but Cub is so cute.
I'm tickling his back and he's sitting perfectly still.

Effie's doing much better, but keep her in your prayers.  Zack's surgery is coming up on the 16th, so keep him in your prayers, also.  We are praying that the surgeon will be able to do both the soft and hard palate during the one surgery to minimize the number of times Zack has to undergo anesthesia and endure pain.
