A New Baby for Christmas!



Foster Mei Howell joined our family on December 21, 2022.  She weighed 6 lbs. 3 oz. and was 19 1/4 inches long.  We're so happy she's here and that everything went well, though Jennie had a long labor.  She had her "best laid plans," that the baby would be born on the 20th--Jordan's birthday (happy birthday, Jordan), so she went to the hospital around 7:00 pm on the 19th.  However, the baby took her time and came in the early morning hours of the 21st.





Caitlyn and I went together to see Foster since Roy was out of town.



We also celebrated Yuli's 2nd birthday this past week.  She was so happy with all the attention!  Dan and Jieun have gotten really smart and took her to the DI to shop for her birthday present.  She was excited to show us her treasures. Roy and I gave her the bike she's trying to ride.



Caitlyn, Ori and I all performed in the Christmas Ice Show.  I think (and I've probably said this before) that this is my farewell performance.  It is so stressful for me.  I'm also a slow and cautious skater, so it's embarrassing.  I have to remind myself that I was the only grandma in the show.  I will post both videos for your enjoyment.

I used gray hair spray and grayed the hair that would show with my shower cap.  Roy's response: "That really ages you!"

Jennie and Jordan (with Camden) even came to see Caitlyn, Ori and me skate, even though she was just about ready to have a baby.

Roy and I were so excited to be able to go to the Christmas Concert
with the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square.  It was fabulous.  It was the first time
in many years that we got drawn from the lottery.  



Hearing Ollie and Gunnar play the piano in their recital was another wonderful Christmas activity.  They both did excellent jobs!  I didn't hear any mistakes.  They're also both getting quite good.

 I have a new calling: Gospel Doctrine Teacher starting in 2023.  I am nervous, but also looking forward to extra gospel study in preparation to facilitate the discussion.

Utah happenings Before we left for Georgia we had a big snowstorm.  The Vances were hit hard in Logan.  Todd was extremely happy with the car that Matt built in the snow for him.  Now that we're back from Georgia we're getting hit again with snowstorms.  They're beautiful and we need the water, but I think we're about ready for spring. It was Tom's birthday on the 21st.  Adrienne made the effort to take her family to the grave on his birthday to send balloons off to Tom.  Roy and I went on Friday night (March 1),  right before a big wind and snowstorm so it was pretty cold.  We didn't stay long.  Gunnar wants to go back when it's warmer and do a clean-up job on the grave stone. He's sweet to think of serving that way. Scriptural Thought

As soon as possible after getting home from Georgia, I again went to Logan to help Crista with the baby.  Little Zack is so precious; I love the time I have been able to hold him and feed him.   The next day I had my hair cut by Jennie, and then Thursday, Jennie and I drove to Logan again.  I walked in the door and got my stuff situated.  Bridget was sitting at the counter doing her computer pre-school.  She looked at me and asked, "Grandma, is that a wig?"   Foster was very interested in the baby.   While studying Come Follow Me this past couple of weeks, I came across one of my favorite scriptures.  I've quoted it before in this blog.  It's 2 Peter 1:15-21 15  Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to  have these things always in remembrance. 16  For we have not followed cunningly devised  a fables , when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were  b eyewitnesses  of his majesty. 17  For he received from Go

Ruby's baptism, Foster's baby blessing, and the Jackson's are in town

 I noticed a text Saturday morning on my phone.  Marcia Marshall (my cousin Richard Winterton's daughter) said, "I'm the only one on the call...I thought this was supposed to be the important meeting with voting and everything."  I realized I blew it.  I've been the secretary of the Cook Family Organization for many years and I think this is the first meeting I totally forgot about.  The reason Marcia was the only one on the call was because I even forgot to send out reminder emails.  Still, everyone knows there's a meeting the 2nd Saturday of every month, so they shouldn't be so dependent on me, right?  I felt badly, but I felt I had some good excuses.  Elise, Andy and their four children have been visiting since Tuesday.  Yesterday (the day of the above blunder), Ruby was baptized in Logan, and today Jennie and Jordan are blessing Foster.   Ruby, Crista and Matt.  Ruby was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on June 10, 2
