Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day to my wonderful husband and father of my children.  We have a great friendship.  We spent a lot of time working together this week cleaning up and organizing our new place in Washum (near Manilla on the Wyoming side).  I had told Roy after we bought the trailer a couple of years ago, that the next time we made a large purchase, we should do it with two older people in mind instead of 38 people and growing, but that's not the way your dad thinks.  Everything he does, he does in love and service to others.  This is a way for him to express his love and create opportunities for our family to be together.  It has always been important to him that we play together as a family.  I see my sons and daughters creating family bonds with their own families and I'm grateful that they have chosen to be (soon to be, or eventually to be) parents.

My own father was a wonderful example of someone who treated his children with love and gave them an example to follow.  At one point in my life, I realized that one of the reasons it was so easy for me to accept a Father in Heaven, was because of the man who had been entrusted by Him to be my father on earth.  Roy's dad was also a great father.  He was a quiet man, but his love was always constant and obvious.

Speaking of soon to be parents:  Jennie and Jordan are expecting their first child toward the end of December.  This is the best picture I can offer of our next grandchild.

We had a great time on Saturday celebrating Amelia Christensen's upcoming wedding.  She was very happy and it was fun to make her the center of attention.  We had a good turn-out: See picture below (taken by Ori).  It was fun to catch up with our extended family, though, as usual, I didn't get to catch up with everyone as I would have liked to.    We missed all of Phil and Charlotte's family as they were participating in a family reunion.  We would have changed to accomodate them, but Amelia is a busy girl.  She was working until a day or two ago, and she is leaving soon for a study abroad. It was great to have Caitlyn take part in planning and putting on the shower as she and Amelia have been great friends (and cousins) for a long time.  We also missed representatives from the Bruce and Glenn Cook families.

After everyone left, Roy and I had a little bit of time, but not much before our cousins Carol and Norm Wright, and her daughter Colleen and her new husband Mark (Hopkins) came over for a visit.  I'm sad I didn't take a picture.  We must have enjoyed each other, because they stayed for about two hours. While talking to them I found out that one of Geoff Smith's daughters is in my stake--she's also in one of the YW presidencies, so I sort of know her.  I sent her an email and told her we were cousins.  It's a small world.  Colleen and Mark also live in Centerville.  They were respectful of our time as they knew we had dinner plans, so they politely ended the visit in time for us to get to our next appointment.

We ended the week, and Father's Day, in the best way; spending time with family! Adrienne and AJ  hosted which was super nice for us.  There was a lot of food!  Mark Green and his son-in-law, Parker both made ribs.  Adrienne grilled chicken, and Dan brought tri-tip that he grilled on his Traegar.  There were two potato dishes, a green salad, a pasta salad, fruit, and grilled mushrooms.  Plus dessert!  It was a feast.

Sadly, it wouldn't be a Rasband family get together if someone didn't get hurt.  Dojin ran into something...and needed 3 staples.  It's not his week--notice the band-aid on his nose.  That was from getting burned on a spatula that was dropped on the way to the sink.

This was taken right after the burn accident (on Friday)

Dojin is a funny kid.  This week he had Jieun take educational videos of him.  He was teaching everyone how to play on a playground.

If you can't hear what he's saying--he's telling you to download.  In the other ones, he said, "Like and subscribe!"

We are looking forward to the Jackson's joining us in a couple of weeks.  It's Max' birthday this coming week, too.  He'll be nine.  Happy Birthday, Max.
