September Hunt I don't know if I mentioned in any previous blog entries that Roy "drew out" for an antelope this year.  I'm not sure what that entails, but he was surprised and excited.  His hunting area was right in the vicinity of our cabin in Manila, so he and Nick took off for a couple of days to look for antelope.   Roy used one bullet for the entire hunt.  He shot this antelope right through the heart.   He's having the meat made into jerkey and sausage.  Roy - My Story     I put in for a "Special Non-Resident Antelope License" and drew out. The odds of drawing out for a non-resident are very low.  The area included our cabin going north to the freeway near Green River, Wyoming, a large deserty area.  I had been scouting out some areas to the north with the Honda as suggested by our friend who lives up the street from the cabin.  I went out several times early in the morning over the past couple of months. ...

The last of the grandchildren have returned to school.  Cam and Yuli get to go to pre-school together-and the Avinator (Avie) has started Kindergarten (I may be a week late on that one). We returned home from Flaming Gorge on Tuesday, and Roy woke up early Wednesday morning to catch a 6:00 flight to Chicago for a conference.  He got home about 1:00 am on Friday morning.  He was pretty exhausted, but he still wanted to drive to Logan to watch Crista's three girls play soccer.  Bridget and Greta played on the same team.  Bridget was definitely in it for the sociality.  Greta played a little, and day-dreamed a little, too.  Ruby made a goal right off the bat.  She is definitely more engaged at this point.  After the games we went to Angies (restaurant) for a treat. Bridget; Todd All the kids had pancakes and they all ate a lot, excepting Greta.  Ruby had her own plate of pancakes and finished up Greta's.   I had pancakes, too....

Labor Day is another opportunity each year for us to get away.  Since we now have a place in Manila, this is where we go for any free weekends.  Caitlyn asked if she and Dallin could come along, and of course we said yes.  The afternoon that they arrived (one day after we got up here) it was so beautiful I suggested taking the boat out for the evening, but Roy had some chores so we stayed in.  The next morning we headed out but only lasted a couple of hours before the storms came in.  Flaming Gorge is beautiful, but you can't predict the weather--and neither can the forecasters.  We were able to rent a slip so that we could leave our boat in the water for a couple of days.  This is very helpful when you don't know when the weather will make a turn for the better. Manila has a rodeo every year at this time and we usually try to attend.  It's a fun event that I believe is well attended by the locals as well as the visitors.  It's quite the thin...
